The  meeting started at 9:30 in the morning with a prayer led by Fr. Janusz Burzawa. The first topic of the agenda was an evaluation of first semester of the District Council. It was agreed that somebody from the Council will prepare guidelines for this evaluation and we will discuss it further during our annual assembly in March 2004. The next was the report given by Frs. Pupkowski and Burzawa from their visit in the US Province, during which they shared their experience and observations. The visit, according to them was very successful. This was followed by another report presented by Fr. Rino Venturin from the meeting of the superiors and formators in Indonesia in the beginning of October 2003.

In the afternoon session we continued sharing on different matters concerning the Philippine District. The most important part of the meeting was the "last supper" together with Fr. Yohanes, which took the place in Pagadian City, during which we expressed our thanks to him and wished all the best in his future assignment.

It's more than six months since the visit of Fr. Giuseppe Pierantoni in the Philippines. Recently, he sent us two e-mails updating about his work and situation. We hope that he will not mind if we share it with you.

Fri, 19 Sep 2003

Dear Friends, here in Nagpur - India we have just termined the visit of our SCJ General Father Jose Ornelas and General Treasurer, Fr. Aquilino, together with our District Superior Fr. Martin.   The visitation helped us a lot to appreciate the solidity of our visitors and to clarify our situation and the destiny of our Regency Program.  Through personal dialogue and community sharing, the two visitors approached our condition and made a proper evaluation of our spirit, needs and expectations. Then a despondent meeting with the local Bishop helped us to take a conclusive decision to withdraw from Nagpur the coming October 5th, 03 moving to Guntur (A.P.), Noviciate House, which is likely to become my new address for a while… .

We have accepted the new orientation with confidence in what God is already preparing for our future... we are in good hands. The boys are going to be sent to a 6-month-exposure in Hindi area (in order to perfect their language study and especcially to meet some challenging situations) from the next November. I will be called to a follow up of their experience while I help the novices' Master... but a final decision about should be taken by our Superiors in the next few days... That's why I ask your prayer. God's blessings in Jesus' Heart.  Beppe

Sun, 26 Oct 2003

Dear Friends, it is already three weeks that I came to Andhra Pradesh, c/o SCJ Noviciate. I am busy helping the Master and his 5 novices in their yearly programs and tasks of community life. Nobody has yet clarified with me how long I’m going to stay here… Anyway, it seems that I will stay here for a long while. My ex companions in Nagpur (6 students + one deacon), after a two-week-course of preparation here in Guntur, left already and entered the pastoral and social activities of a Parish in Bhopal city, north-India, as exposure to a pluralistic environment and poverty, with the hope too to improve the knowledge of the national language. Also, I cannot get them in Bhopal. It seems that it is dangerous for a foreigner to go now in that area strictly controlled by Hindu fundamentalists.

Useless to say that to pray for me is a very appreciated thing! Goodbye.

In Jesus’ Heart.

Beppe
